Timothy SHU

Ph.D. Student @HKUST on TCS and DB Theory

About Me

I am Timothy SHU (舒天, SHU Tian), a first-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) under the co-supervision of Prof. Ke YI and Prof. Amir GOHARSHADY.
My Ph.D. study is funded by Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS).

My research focuses on topics in Database Theory and Theoretical Computer Science, including parameterized algorithms, combinatorial optimization, and differential privacy. The ultimate goal of my research is to design algorithms with guarantees on both theoretical bounds and practical performance.

Before starting my Ph.D., I obtained my B.Sc. in Data Science and Technology, and in Computer Science from HKUST.
